Distance Sampling: Estimating Abundance of Biological Populations
Published in Paperback by Chapman & Hall (July, 1993)
Authors: S.T. Buckland, D.R. Anderson, K.P. Burnham, and J.L. Laake
Average review score:

Distance sampling
This book is a very good start for begainer readers into the field of wildlife population assessment. Though it proceeds further into advanced topics regarding both theory and practice. The book provides step-wise introduction into the theory behind a well established method for population assessment that is widely used among ecologists. Examples and applications are provided. The figures are well chosen and illustrated. Although being simple in context some basic knowledge of statiscs is an assesst while reading this book. The book is edited in a way to provide a sort of comprehensive manual of a DISTANCE software package used for estimating wildlife population from sighting surveys.

Diving and Dredging for Gold
Published in Paperback by Best Publishing Company (September, 1995)
Author: Dick Anderson
Average review score:

Informative and Also a Very Funny Book!
Dick Anderson has been diving forever, he is one of the first commercial divers on the West Coast, and he "has racked up well over a year of bottom time as a sport and commercial diver."

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, it is truly a very informative book on California, gold, and the dredging process. The book tells you what equipment to use, where to look, how to find gold, dredging, selling and lots more! But it is also a very funny book, could hardly put it down, I highly recommend this book for its entertainment value and if you want to dive or search for gold in California this is the book you will need.

Doomtown or Bust
Published in Paperback by Pinnacle Entertainment Group, Inc. (01 January, 1998)
Authors: Rob Vaux, Eric Anderson, Kevin Sharpe, and Shane Lacy Hensley
Average review score:

One of Those Books Targeted at a VERY Select Audience
This book is created for fans of the Doomtown CCG the Deadlands Card Game. The Doomtown CCG is set in the town of Gomorra California, where 9 (Formerly 10) factions fight for control of the town and the surrounding mines. This book was written before the current storyline in the CCG ended, before almost the entire town was destroyed, so it is a bit out of date. So if you are a fan of the card game, and want to play the RPG, get the book and play in your favorate town. If you just play the RPG and want a heavily detailed town, where all the major players are around, pick up this book. Over all it is a interesting read, and can provide the meta-plot for a long term campaign.

Don't Panic!
If you have this wonderful cookbook you'll never panic in the kitchen. Everything you need to know--from how to use tarragon to how long to cook pork chops--is inside. The recipes are both understandable and fabulous. I have the 1975 printing of this volume, which has been revised since (you can take any of my cookbooks as long as you leave me my Doubleday!). The new revised version is just my old friend with a facelift and a healthy attitude. Go ahead and get it if you don't have an older version--you NEED this cookbook!

Downtown: A History of Downtown Minneapolis and Saint Paul in the Words of the People Who Lived It
Published in Paperback by Nodin Press (November, 1999)
Author: David Anderson
Average review score:

Excellent
I really enjoyed this book. Being a resident of the Twin Cities for virtually my entire life (over 40 years) I could relate to most of the places mentioned in the book. The book itself is actually a fine collection of stories from people that actually lived in Minneapolis and St. Paul from the late 1800's thru the mid 1900's. These stories are interspersed with comments and background from the author/editor, who does a marvelous job of tying them all together. More than just a dry, factual history of the area, it brings alive what daily life was like for residents back then, and how it changed over the decades with the introduction of the car, movies, and even bathtubs. From the heydays of the 1890's to the Urban Renewal days of the 1950's, it made me aware of how much we've lost from those days, how far we've come over the years, and the wrong turns and detours we've made along the way.

Dragons: Truth, Myth, and Legend
Published in Library Binding by Artist & Writers Guild Books (July, 1998)
Authors: David Passes and Wayne Anderson
Average review score:

Excellent!
The drawings are what really made this book so good. The stories by themselves are not so interesting, but the illustrations of the dragons really sold this book for me. I believe they are done in fine colored pencil, and they are the first dragon pictures I have ever seen in my life that agree with my opinion of a dragon looks like. The only reason why I did not give this book a full ten is because I didn't take a perticular interest in the stories. An artist and/or a dragon fanatic (like me) would appreciate this book a lot.
